Get 'er Done

Does anyone know the origin of that phrase/fragment/saying? It's on a comedy CD I've been listning to. I don't want to use it if it's some sort of negative/sexist thing. Of course, I've just used it here, but I could always delete it or plead ignorance.

So yes, I am plowing forward, plot and characterization be damned. That's not true. Characters are taking shape and morphing further away from actual people. It's kind of cool, really. I'll be taking my act on the road soon - first for TrackRick's wedding and then a trip to Montreal. I'll have a spiffy desk/computer setup in Montreal so I'll be working and posting from there.

Gotta go get 'er done.

To the best of my knowledge, the phrase comes from Larry The Cable Guy, a comedian. He's got the whole redneck thing going. He's from Florida, but, before he hit the big time, he used to call into the Morning Show on one of our local radio stations (and one in Denver and maybe some other places) and do commentary on current events. It was pretty heavy on the conservative (and crude) side, though usually funny. He always ended the phone call with "Git er done!"

Not sure what the underlying meaning of it is. I suppose it could be seen as sexist.

This is a quick read but interesting:

I have been following a site now for almost 2 years and I have found it to be both reliable and profitable. They post daily and their stock trades have been beating
the indexes easily.

BTW "Get 'er done" goes back at least as far as the Steven King movie "Carrie" where the Travolta character says it about killing the pig.

mr_morpheus sez, well I have an update to the earliest known usage of Get r done. In the 1975 movie "Heartbreak Pass" Marshall Pearce played by Ben Johnson, uses the phrase when the bad guys decide to traverse the train to the engine to kill Charles Bronson. Clue my mail can be found at a really hotplace....Regards

To be clear Carrie was released in 1976 and Heartbreak Pass was released in 1975. It would seem that it entered the lexicon sometime before that. Morph!

I never thought I would agree with this opinion, but I’m starting to see things differently.
